Rudy and Linda
Rudy's colorful military career began as a cadet in the Philippine
Military Academy where he graduated in 1962. He joined the Philippine
Air Force to fulfill his dream of becoming a pilot. He holds an
MBM degree from the Asian Institute of Management where he graduated
in 1972.
He capped his successful military career as Superintendent of the
prestigious Philippine Military Academy in 1996. He is credited
with largely upgrading the infrastructure of Fort del Pilar during
his three year term. He is also credited with the successful organization
of Air Philippines as its President and CEO in 1996-97.
Our Family
He is a recipient of 29 military medals among which are five Distinguished
Service Stars, Gold Cross for Bravery in Action, Philippine Legion
of Honor, Outstanding Achievement Medal, Distinguished Aviation
Cross and the United Nations Service Medal. He likewise earned the
coveted Golden Aviators Award for Public Service from the PAF Flying
School Association, and the Air Cavalier Award for Command and Administration
from the PMA Alumni Association, Air Force Chapter. He was Defense
Attache to Japan from 1986-1990.
Rudy is an active Rotarian since 1980. He was elected governor
of District 3810 and chaired the Council of Philippine Rotary Governors
in RY 2001-02. He was recipient of the Rotary’s Global Quest
Award and the Outstanding Leadership Trophy as Distinguished Governor
at the RI Barcelona Convention in June, 2002. Rudy is a Service
Above Self Awardee, Rotary International's highest honor for individual
Rotarians.
Randy, Ricky, Roxanne and RJ
He served as International Training Leader at the 2006 International
Assembly in San Diego, CA and Training Team Leader at GETS for Zones
4B, 6B & 7B which was held in Jakarta in November 2006. Rudy
is the Chairman of the Philippine College of Rotary Governors for
RY 2006-07.
His happy marriage to lovely Linda del Mar Talaid of Cebu City,
a B.S. Psychology graduate, bore four talented children: Randolph
("Randy") - an MBA graduate from Harvard Business School,
currently VP & CFO of Metro Pacific; Roderick ("Ricky")
- graduate of New York Restaurant School, an Executive Chef of Nobu
Restaurant in New York City married to Pam Dinglasan of Mandaluyong City; Roxanne – a U.P. Master in Educational
Management graduate, now a school principal, married to Tet Limjoco
of San Fernando, Pampanga; and Rodolfo, Jr. ("RJ") - a
medical student of De La Salle University at Dasmarinas, Cavite. They have four grand children: Mikie, Ram, Sam and Robin.
